What is ENKA EV ?

ENKA EV is a replica of 1929 AERO 500, iconic car that was made in Czechoslovakia by AERO from 1929 to 1934

The AERO 500 and latter AERO 662 was made under license from ENKA, which produced the vehicle from 1926 to 1929.

The 2026 ENKA EV is modern replica version of this vehicle.

The original one-cylinder two-stroke engine that delivered 10Hp has been in the replica replaced by a modern electric powertrain.

What is "replica" ?

An NHTSA approved replica is a turn-key vehicle produced by a registered low-volume manufacturer that is built to resemble a car manufactured at least 25 years ago.

These vehicles are exempt from modern crash-testing standards but must be powered by EPA and CARB-compliant engines or motors, if electric.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) program allows small builders to produce and sell historically accurate replica vehicles without being forced to meet modern mass-production safety regulations.

Core Rules for NHTSA Approved Replicas

• Age Requirement:
  The vehicle being replicated must have been manufactured at least 25 years before the replica’s build date.
  
• Volume Cap:
  Manufacturers are limited to producing a maximum of 325 of these replica vehicles per calendar year.
  
• Dimensions:
  The replica must closely resemble the exterior body and dimensions of the original vehicle (typically within a 1:1 scale, plus or minus 10%).
  
• Safety:
  Because it is structurally and financially impractical to subject limited-run classics to modern crash tests (e.g., roof crush, side-impact, or modern bumper standards), NHTSA exempts these cars from many Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS). However, they must still utilize NHTSA-compliant equipment like standard headlights, brake hoses, and tires.
